The Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, Arancha González-Laya, visited Casa Asia’s Centre in Madrid.

During her visit, held yesterday afternoon, the Minister had a meeting with the Director General of Casa Asia, Javier Parrondo, and the Director of the Centre in Madrid, Carmen Díez-Orejas, and greeted their staff. She also had the opportunity to learn about the work of this public diplomacy institution and the most relevant challenges ahead, in particular, adapting its programme to the constraints imposed by the pandemic.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation is one of the four public administrations – together with the Generalitat de Catalunya, and the City Councils of Barcelona and Madrid – that has been part of the Casa Asia Public Consortium since its creation in 2001. Asia, which is a member of the MAEUEC “Red de Casas”, has the mission of promoting knowledge on Asia-Pacific in Spain and fostering relations between Spain and the countries of that region, with special attention to their respective civil societies.
