The Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, José Manuel Albares, opened this afternoon Casa Asia’s new headquarters, “the Capella de la Casa dels Infants Orfes”, located at c/Elisabets, 24, in Barcelona.

Minister Albares unveiled the commemorative plaque, visited the facilities of the Casa Asia consortium, and greeted its staff, in addition to speaking with the institutional representatives who attended the opening.

In his speech to the public present at the event, Minister Albares, who was accompanied by the Director General of Casa Asia, Javier Parrondo, the Commissioner of International Relations and Promotion of the City of the Barcelona City Council, Pau Solanilla, and by the General Director of Foreign Action of the Generalitat of Catalonia, Anna Dotor, has highlighted the role of Casa Asia as “the main public diplomacy organization in Spain for the Indo-Pacific region, with a history of more than 20 years promoting knowledge of that continent in our country.”

The minister has highlighted “the dynamism and strategic importance of the region, and has defined it as the new axis of world power.” Albares added that “Asia is also a source of opportunities for our companies, and a laboratory for numerous social changes, which are beginning to be introduced in the West.”

The minister has referred to the definitive headquarters of Casa Asia in the Pedralbes Palace, which will be a reality as soon as the rehabilitation works of the two pavilions that are located at the two ends of the entrance to the premises have been carried out along Av. Diagonal.

The recently opened headquarters of Casa Asia in Barcelona is a rectangular building, protected as a cultural asset of local interest, which consists of three floors, with a multipurpose room to host small-format events and offices. This space has been provided by Barcelona City Council so that Casa Asia can carry out its activities, in accordance with the provisions of its statutes.
