The Asia-Europe Foundation (ASEF) will hold its 44th Board of Governors in the city of Barcelona on July 6 and 7. The board, which meets once a year, will be attended by the governors of 50 countries, 30 from Europe and 20 from Asia, plus one representative from the European Union and one from the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Secretariat.

The purpose of the ASEF Board of Governors is to review and approve ongoing Asia-Europe Foundation projects and programs. Thus, two meetings are scheduled for July 4 and 5: the Finance and Audit Committee and the Executive Committee, while the two plenary sessions will be held on July 6 and 7.

Casa Asia’s general director, Javier Parrondo, is also the Spanish governor in ASEF. Casa Asia has maintained a close collaborative relationship with ASEF since its inception. In 2019 it organized as a local partner of ASEF, three official programs that took place in Madrid on the occasion of the 14th ASEM Foreign Ministers’ Meeting: 3rd ASEM Cultural Festival, 9th ASEM Model, and. 12th ASEF Journalists Seminar. This 2023 Casa Asia will collaborate with the University of Salamanca in the organization of the 5th ASEF Young Summit Leaders Summit (ASEFYLS5) that will take place in Salamanca from September 12th to 16th, and will be held in the city of Salamanca from September 12th to 16th. at the ASEF Linkup, Asia-Europe Culture Diplomacy Lab, to be held in Singapore in October.
