David Navarro García, New Director General of Casa Asia

David Navarro García, 47 year old diplomat, is now the new Director General of Casa Asia. The Governing Board of the institution, gathered today in Barelona, has approved his appointment unanimously. Navarro replaces Ramón María Moreno as head of the General Direction of Casa Asia having completed his term of office.

 

David Navarro was born in Madrid on the 18th of January 1970. Law graduate, he began his diplomatic career in 1996. His latest post has been Deputy Head at the Embassy for Spain in Seoul. He has also held the Deputy Head at the Embassies for Spain in Santiago and Managua. At this last one he has also been First Secretary and Consul. He has been Deputy Director General of Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean and Consul of the General Consulate of Spain in Frankfurt.

Among other responsabilities, he has been Chief of Staff of the State Secretary for Iberoamerica, Director of the Technical Office of the Spanish Agency for International Cooperation for Development, Vocal Advisor of the State Secretariat Office of International Cooperation, Vocal Advisor of the State Secretariat Office for International Cooperation and for Iberoamerica, Technical Advisor of the Technical Office of the Spanish Agency for International Cooperation during two terms and Head of Service of the General Secretariat Office of Foreign Policy and for the European Union.

Casa Asia consortium, which appreciates Ramón María Moreno's work in a complex period of economic difficulties, has in its Governing Board the highest collegiate body of the institution's management, made up of representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation (MAEC), Generalitat of Catalunya, Barcelona and Madrid City Council.

With this appointment, Casa Asia opens a new period in its project that has been developed since 2001, as a reference and meeting point of our country with the region of Asia and the Pacific. The consortium would like to make the most of this new term to boost the institution and it has made the new director responsible for ellaborating a Work and Viability Plan that will be presented as soon as possible.
