Today the 8th Asian Studies Meeting has taken place. Event organised by Casa Asia, in collaboration with the University of Castilla La Mancha, and the participation of around thirty Spanish universities, which have an offer of Asian studies or Oriental languages, or who would like to add it in the future.
At the meeting, Professor Jean-François Huchet, President of INALCO (Institut National des Langues et Civilisations Orientales), regarding Asian studies in France and future prospects, spoke as a special guest. Later, two representatives of the Universities of Salamanca and Autonomous of Barcelona, have discussed the Asian study models of their respective centres, to give rise to a subsequent debate among participants.
Lastly, the project that Casa Asia and the Rey Juan Carlos University of Madrid wish to launch shortly for the preparation of a Guide to Asian Studies in Spain has been presented. This Guide aims to make a historical review of Asian studies in Spain, to become a useful tool for the entire academic university community and to serve as a reference for planning future degrees.
