Mothers of adult students and tutors of students of the Ramón y Cajal, Josep Comas i Solà (Trinitat Vella), Poble Sec (Raval- Poble Sec), Rambla Prim (Besós), Cavall Bernat and Miquel Bleach (Sants- Hostafrancs) schools took part in a guided visit around the university and jointly presented the programme before a very diverse audience. The five continents of the world were represented in one classroom with diverse languages, ages, genres and clothes with common objectives: To learn with and from other people, to exchange knowledge and experiences, to communicate from diversity, to empower and earn autonomy.

The meeting had continuity. Next Wednesday 21st of February students of the Master attended lessons at Trinitat Vella and Besós schools. They went into the classrooms, read lessons and share a close, everyday, diverse and enriching dialogue for everyone.

The program’s promoters, the team, and the participating teachers and professors gave the necessary support and accompaniment to make the two meetings a success. Participants of the AFEX programme from diverse origins approached the university, they felt valued in their effort to learn, for their commitment to volunteering… while the students of the Master made a sample of daily life in two neighborhoods of the city with a high percentage of Asian immigration. They learned about the objectives, challenges and difficulties of developing the AFEX Program in each neighborhood and were able to practice dialogue from diversity.

Thanks to these multicultural events, the language barriers that limit communication between people are visualized and they are encouraged to equip themselves with tools and resources that facilitate communication and positive interaction. With the AFEX program we open communication spaces and generate dynamics of social  collaboration and social growth. From UPF and from Casa Asia’s AFEX Program we want to thank the involvement and work of all the participants. It has been a very positive and stimulating experience on a long and open learning path for everyone.
