Casa Asia collaborates for the first time in the ICAS Book Awards (IBP) for the editions in Portuguese and Spanish, and will sponsor the Spanish edition in 2023.

The ICAS Book Prize (IBP) is awarded to outstanding publications in the field of Asian studies and in different languages, and has always been organized around broad interdisciplinary bases (social sciences and humanities), instead of the traditional geographical or disciplinary divisions.

This award has become the leading prize in the field of Asian studies, with almost 700 books, more than 170 theses and 98 articles submitted in 2021. Organized every two years, the IBP has gone from being a small experiment to one of the the largest book awards of its kind.

The official organizer of the Spanish edition of the IBP 2023 is Sephis, a Research program on the History of South-South Development, an institution with 30 years of existence, inaugurated by the Ministry of Development Cooperation of the Netherlands and committed to reducing inequalities and overcoming North-South scientific asymmetries, which have a negative impact on the production and international circulation of ideas.

The ICAS Book Prize (IBP) was established in 2003 by the International Convention of Asian Scholars (ICAS), a global space where scholars from Asia and social and cultural actors from around the world can engage in dialogues about Asia that go beyond the boundaries between academic disciplines and geographic regions.

The Spanish edition of the IBP is now open and the deadline for submitting proposals ends on February 1st.
