The Director General of Casa Asia, Javier Parrondo, and the Rector of the University of Cádiz, Francisco Piniella, have signed a general collaboration protocol with the aim of undertaking a joint action strategy that allows strengthening academic, scientific, cultural and mobility with universities and research and cultural centres in Central Asia.

This agreement is the result of the collaboration between both institutions in various joint projects for future relations between Spain and Central Asia, such as the Central Asian Observatory, the Ruy de Clavijo Scholarships and the organisation of a seminar on Central Asia, whose celebration is scheduled in the city of Cádiz next September 2023.

Thanks to the work carried out in recent years, the University of Cádiz, through the International University Center for Eastern Europe and Central Asia (CUNEAC), is an international reference in university collaboration between Spain and Central Asia. It is currently the most active Spanish university center and develops most projects with universities and institutions in Central Asia.

The CUNEAC of the UCA was born in 2019 as a unit created specifically for the development of relations and educational, scientific, cultural and multidisciplinary projects with the countries of Eastern Europe and Central Asia, and offers a complete agenda of cultural activities, exhibitions, exchanges courses, seminars, workshops, conferences, congresses, etc.
