This forum aimed to analyse the informative treatment given in the media in Spain on the Asian continent, as well as approaching challenges correspondents face in a global world and to offer guidelines to all those journalists who would like to work in Asia.

The professionals that took part in AsiaMedia were the following: Macarena Vidal (Chief Correspondent El País in China), Isidre Ambrós (former correspondent l La Vanguardia in Asia), Sara Romero (former correspondent Antena 3 in China), Vicenç Sanclemente (former correspondent TVE in China), Lluís Miquel Hurtado (correspondent for El Mundo in the Middle East), Maribel Izcue (former correspondent for EFE Agency in Asia), Mavi Doñate (correspondent TVE in Asia), Pablo M. Díez (correspondent for ABC in Asia), Sergi Vicente (former correspondent for TV3 in China), Jordi Joan Baños (correspondent for La Vanguardia in Turkey), Adrián Foncillas (correspondent for El Periódico de Catalunya in China), Alfonso Bauluz (former correspondent for EFE Agency in Asia) and Ana Salvá (freelance journalist).

The document of conclusions highlights the main ideas of the debates among journalists, structured in the following sections: What information on Asia can be introduced in Spanish media? The emergence of new technologies, social media and fake news. The role of correspondents in a global world. How we differ? And how do we convince the editor?. Current immediacy versus literary quality and Why Asia?.

It also includes a decalogue of conclusions and a selection of tweets publishing during the event with the hashtag #AsiaMedia. This document is completed with a video post that can be found on our Youtube channel.
