Following the outbreak of coronavirus originated in China, citizens of this country and activists from several countries in Europe have launched a social media campaign to counteract racist and xenophobic reactions against the Chinese community in particular and the Asian community in general

Initiated in France with the hashtag #JeNeSuisPasUnVirus, it has echoed in Canada, Italy and the United Kingdom, among other countries, while in Spain it is used as #yonosoyunvirus and #nosoyunvirus. From Casa Asia, we reject any sign of racism and xenophobia and support any initiative that avoids alarmism, spreading false information and this kind of attitudes against the Chinese community in Spain.

Since the World Health Organization (WHO) received the first alert last December 31, and officially declared the international emergency, hundreds of new people affected by Coronavirus 2019 (n-CoV) are detected everyday, and despite the fact that the epicenter of the disease has been focused on China, the epidemic has become a global problem. In this regard, it is advisable to follow the advice of the Ministry of Health of the Government of Spain and WHO on this matter. It should regarded that risks are associated with exposure to the virus and, therefore, there is no relationship with personal characteristics or with a particular community.
