The purpose of the Asia Festival is to approach the Asian culture to Catalonia. With the growing collaboration of Asian communities established in our country, the Festival is held every year since 2002 and it offers traditional and avant-garde shows from different Asian countries.

The shows featured include music, dance, puppets, martial arts and theatre, with performances such as the Beijing Opera, a group of Korean contemporary dance, a famous Chinese rock singer, Japanese theatre, Vietnamese dancers, Australian music and many others. The performances are complemented by Asian food tasting, cinema and workshops. The Festival is planned and addressed to young people, families, children and adults, as there are activities for every age.

The Asia Festival is the only Asian cultural festival held in Europe on a regular basis, and the audience grows every year. This major annual initiative, organised in collaboration with the Barcelona City Council, the Diputació, the Generalitat of Catalonia and the Spanish Agency for International Development and Cooperation (AECID), takes place in landmark areas of Barcelona, such as the Mercat de les Flors, the Plaça Reial, the Parc de la Ciutadella or the Plaça dels Àngels.

The Asia Festival aims to spread to other metropolitan areas with a strong presence of Asian population.
