José Pintor Aguilar, a 48-year-old career diplomat, is from today the new general director of Casa Asia. The Governing Council of the institution has unanimously approved his appointment. José Pintor replaces Javier Parrondo.
Born in Barcelona on 4 July 1976, he joined the diplomatic service in 2004 and holds a degree in Law from the Pompeu Fabra University and in Political Science from the Autonomous University of Barcelona.
The new director of Casa Asia has more than 20 years of experience in the diplomatic career and has held various positions in Embassies and Consulates in Equatorial Guinea, Morocco, Nicaragua, Mexico and France, as well as in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, and in the Secretariat of the Union for the Mediterranean.
José Pintor plans to take up his new position as director general of Casa Asia in mid-February, once his term as deputy consul in Paris has concluded.

Over the past five years, under the direction of Javier Parrondo (2019-2024), the institution has promoted its digital transformation process, improved its financial situation, strengthened its network of alliances with institutions and entities, and launched the project for its future headquarters at the Palau de Pedralbes in Barcelona.
The Governing Council of Casa Asia, a collegiate governing body, is made up of representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, Generalitat de Catalunya, Barcelona City Council and Madrid City Council. Casa Asia, the main public diplomacy body in Spain on the Asia-Pacific region, is based in Barcelona and has a centre in Madrid.
