This year's awards recognize the careers of Iranian filmmaker Saeed Nouri, engineer Claudio Feijóo, Filipina mediator Miriam Coronel-Ferrer, and the Barcelona Supercomputing Center for their contribution to strengthening relations between Spain and Asia-Pacific through culture, innovation, peacebuilding, and scientific cooperation.
Barcelona, July 21, 2026The auditorium of the Joan Miró Foundation in Barcelona hosted the awards ceremony this afternoon. Casa Asia 2026, awards that recognize the career of individuals and institutions that make outstanding contributions to strengthening relations between Spain and Asia-Pacific.
In this edition, the awards have gone to the Iranian filmmaker Saeed Nouri, in the Culture category; the engineer and researcher Claudio Feijóo, in Economics and Business; the Filipina academic and mediator Miriam Coronel-Ferrer, in Politics and Society; and the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC-CNS), in Education and Science.
The ceremony included welcoming remarks from the CEO of Casa Asia, José Pintorand Luis Fonseca, Director General for North America, Eastern Europe, Asia and the Pacific at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, the institution that holds the presidency of the Governing Council of Casa AsiaBoth highlighted the relevance of the merits accumulated by the four award winners in their respective categories, underlining their contribution to strengthening ties between Spain and Asia-Pacific in areas as diverse as culture, innovation, peacebuilding and scientific cooperation.
The award winners received a sculpture by the artist Joan Esquerdo Ivars, a symbol of these awards since their creation, from representatives of the four consortium institutions of Casa Asia. MarEugènia Gay Rosell, Deputy Mayor of Barcelona, presented the award to Saeed Nouri; José Herrera, Director General of International Relations of Madrid, presented the award to Claudio Feijóo; Luis Fonseca recognized Miriam Coronel-Ferrer on behalf of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation; and Lorena Elvira, Secretary General of European Union and Foreign Action of the Government of Catalonia, presented the award to the Barcelona Supercomputing Center.
The four award winners expressed their satisfaction at receiving recognition from an institution whose objective is to promote mutual understanding and relations between Spain and the Asia-Pacific region, and highlighted the role of Casa Asia for its contribution to bringing societies closer together, and to creating cultural, economic, academic and institutional links between both regions.

Saeed Nouri (Culture), for his contribution to independent cinema and film research, and for projecting Iranian cinema internationally through a documentary work committed to cultural memory and historical reflection.
Claudio Feijóo (Economy and Business), for its decisive role in building bridges between the innovation ecosystems of Spain and China, promoting academic, technological and entrepreneurial cooperation between both countries.
Miriam Coronel-Ferrer (Politics and Society), for its leadership in peacebuilding processes and for its decisive role in the historic Comprehensive Agreement on Bangsamoro, becoming an international reference for mediation, dialogue and inclusion.
Barcelona Supercomputing Center (Education and Science), by strengthening scientific cooperation between Spain and Asia, especially with Japan, through pioneering projects in supercomputing, artificial intelligence and advanced research.

Established in 2004, the Awards Casa Asia Their aim is to recognize and disseminate the work of individuals, organizations, and projects that excel in their respective fields and contribute to strengthening dialogue, cooperation, and mutual understanding between Spain and the countries of Asia and the Pacific.
