The two wise men

This Indian story tells us that when learning the technique is not as important as the intention and that from the most unexpected person we could learn something. Discover what happened between these two wise men!

Once upon a time there where two wise men that lived on two little island very close to each other. They used their time to meditate and to study the Holy Scriptures. One of them was really young, he was widely famous and people from all around visited him to ask great questions and receive then great answers. But he was at the same time arrogant and vain. The other was an old man who was rarely visited and had a great heart as being modest.

One day, the old one rowed his little boat to the young hermit's island to ask dor spiritual guidance. When he asked for it the young one gave him a mantra, which is a sentence that you have to recite until you learn it, he also gave him instructions on how to recite it. The young one felt proud and looked at the old man condescendingly. When finished the old man returned to his boat and headed back to his island while repeating the mantra to himself.

Hours later, while the young one read the Holy Scriptures the old one entered his home and addressed to him full of remorse:

- Venerable master, I forgot the mantra that you confided me. I'm really sorry for my ignorance... Would you mind repeating it to me?

The young one looked at him arrogantly and repeated the mantra while he thought: "This poor man while never reach Wisdom if he is not even able to retain a simple mantra". He observed the old man while he walked full of shame to his island until he was taken by surprise. The old man was in fact walking on the blue waters of the ocean
