Film program: «New views of Asian cinema»
Asian cinema returns to movie theaters Paz with a program that runs from October 4 to December 13, 2025. Although it may seem like a cliché to say that Spanish distributors are showing a not-so-recent interest in having an ever-increasing repertoire of titles from Asia, in general, the truth is that Asian cinema is increasingly present not only in national and international festivals, but also in our cinemas. The films we will screen between October and December 2025 come from China, India, Iran, Japan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Malaysia, Mongolia, Nepal, Pakistan, and Uzbekistan.
River's Edge (2017) by Wang Chao opens this quarter's program. The list of titles presented maintains the interest in social drama and gender themes, from a multitude of perspectives that reflect the cultural identity of its protagonists. This is what films made between 2017 and 2023 tell us: River's Edge (China), Wind of Change (Iran), Scheme (Kazakhstan), 1000 dreams (Kyrgyzstan), Aydinlar (Uzbekistan), Goldfish (India), One Night in Katmandu (Nepal), Madaari (Pakistan), Gergi (Mongolia), Maryam (Malaysia) and Yamabuki (Japan). In all cases, our intention is to facilitate the vision of a world, or many worlds, that we would hardly have access to without literature and film.
