Dance performance "Roots that migrate, rhythms that return: from tradition to transformation"

Within the framework of the Dual Year Spain-India, the Shreyashee Nag Dance Company presents a kathak dance performance that proposes an encounter between the texts of Lorca and Tagore, and the bodies and movements of the dancers.

Created by choreographer and dancer Shreyashee Nag, the work brings together kathak, contemporary dance, and flamenco in a poetic dialogue between India and Spain. Inspired by the poetry of Rabindranath Tagore and Federico García Lorca, the piece explores themes such as memory, identity, and belonging through rhythm and movement. From the encounter between kathak and flamenco, a shared artistic language is constructed that bridges cultures and celebrates diversity.

Shreyashee Nag, awarded the 2023 Performing Arts Critics Awards for her solo piece aboveShe is accompanied by a team of eight dancers who bring diverse techniques and a great interpretive richness to the work.

The activity is part of the “Asia on Stage” program of Casa Asia.
