Exhibition "Indian Narrative in the 21st Century: Between Memory and History"

This exhibition collects the work of 10 Indian artists (Jitish Kallat, Reena S. Kallat, Nalini Malani, Sheba Chhachhi, Ravinder Reddy, Bharti Kher, Subodh Gupta, Ranbir Kaleka, Shilpa Gupta and Vivan Sundaram) representative of the strategies that dialogue adopts in defence of a new poscolonial identity. "Memory and History" merge with each other, sharing the function of legitimate stories which promote the creation of sceneries dwelled by a "translocal" subject in a global world.

In a world with words and image going through it, as shadows of itself, what's narrated, whichever instrument it uses, builds the new postcolonial cultural identity against the binary system of centre and periphery, civilised and wild, among others, conventionally imposed by western representations of foreign cultures. Memory and history share the function of encouraging the transformation of the present and the creation of a global space inhabited by a «translocal» subject which, however, far from losing its individuality, revindicates it in each one of its actions.
