Book Launch: "Corre, pare, corre!" by Kim Ae-ran

Presentación del libro:

Corre, pare, corre! is a work within the framework of new Korean literature but that approaches a traditional topic: family patriarchy and the figure of the father. Kim Ae-Ran critically reflects on this issue in a symbolic way through different stories.

Corre, pare, corre! is a compilation of stories that evolve around the figure of the absent father or who has abandoned his roles. In Korean tradition, the figure of the father has a very important role, What happens to children when their parents don't act like parents? Kim Ae-ran's stories could be a response although they go beyond that and are within a symbolic universe. With humour and irony and with certain distance, the author portrays the failures and difficulties of his generation, of those who were born in the 80's of the 20th century, a generation that is built among the remainders of the tradition while they try to follow the rhythm of modernity. Ae-ran's stories approach us to a faraway universe, Korean, that seems close and contemporary at the same time.

Kim Ae-ran is part of the new generation of authors that have renewed Korean literature and readers in Catalan now have the opportunity to enjoy their voice and personal vision through the first translation of hiw work into Catalan.
