Conference on Asian Tourism at Fitur 2017

Jornada sobre turismo asiático en Fitur 2017 700

Casa Asia will present next 19th of January and within the framework of the International Tourism Fair of Madrid, FITUR 2017, a document with the main conclusions of its first report on Asian tourism where the main information of this tourism towards Europe will be analysed, as well as the role of Spain as a receiving market. This presentation will be complemented with 2 roundtables on the new air connectivity with Asia and about its relevance in the evolution of Asian tourism and with two training workshops.

This event will be attended by Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Ignacio Ibáñez, and Minister of Culture and Tourism of Malaysia, Dato 'Seri Mohamed Nazri bin Abdul Aziz, and will be held in Room N118, 1st floor of the Center for IFEMA North Conventions.

The greatest contribution to the growth of tourism in Spain in the past years comes in relative terms from Asian countries. In 2015, Spain received around 600.000 Japanese citizens, 400.000 Chinese, 300.000 South Korean and 87.000 Indian (Frontur). It consists of 4 representative countries of the 15 Asian countries that bring tourists to our country.

Regarding this context, Casa Asia has produced a paper of conclusions drawn from its first report on Asian tourism where data of Asian tourism towards Europe and Spain is analysed, as well as the impact of this new reality on different sectors of receiving tourism: shopping tourism, MICE tourism, cultural tourism, gastronomic tourism, etc.

On the other hand, during the latest years, direct air connectivity with Asia had be identified as one of the main limitations of a greater increase of Asian tourists in our country. But since 2015 connectivity has become one of the main chances of Asian tourism towards Spain. The number of Asian destinations with which there is or will exist a direct connection has increased substantially.

This turning point in the improvement of air connectivity with Asia, as well as the relevance of this continent in the evolution of Asian tourism will be discussed and analysed in two roundtables.

The conference will also include training workshops to improve the services of Chinese customer service and to know how to locate our tourist destinations at Chinese online plaltforms and social media.

The session is addressed to all those professionals of the tourist sector (touroperators, hotels, airlines, tourist promotion organisms...) with interest in getting to know the future of Asian tourism.
