Conferencia: “Shinobi-no-mono. La verdad sobre los ninja”

The shinobi (name historically used to call the ninja) have been active characters in the history of Japan, a fact that has been wrapped in an aura of mystery. Over time several images of the ninja and their techniques known as ninjutsu have been created and popularised. A popularization developed first within Japanese culture, through novels and oral stories and, in the past few years, all around the world thanks to mangas such as Naruto.

The University of Mie, close to the two hisotrical epicentres of the ninja and ninjutsu, Iga and Kôka, has invited the director of Kôka School of Ninjutsu, Jinichi Kawakami, to promote the investigation of the ninja and of ninjutsu as part of Japanese and world culture.

Casa Asia and Japan Foundation collaborate in this project of the spreading of the real figure of the ninja and ninjutsu, and they reveal the transformation of the image of the shinobi-no-mono given by two researchers from University of Mie, Yûji Yamada and Katsuya Yoshimaru. We also propose a quiz about the ninja and ninjutsu.
