Performance of Traditional Japanese Dance: “Dai Dengaku”

Representación de baile tradicional japonés: “Dai Dengaku” - IMG 2

Originally, the term dengaku refers to the festivities of the cultivation of rice all around Japan, where citizens used to perform traditional dances. These dances began in Kyoto and in other Japanese cities between the 11th and the 16th centuries. However, with time they began to disappear until Mannojo Nimura (1959-2004) recovered them, making them more attractive for the public in general and gave them a more contemporary touch.

The company ACT.JT performed in the terrace of Casa de Vacas (Retiro Park) a demonstration of this dance with the participation of ten Spanish volunteers in a cultural exchange display to make this dance known.

This event is within the framework of the Spain-Japan Dual Year events.
