Course: "Japanese Women's Literature"

This is not a course of female or feminist literature, or exclusively for women, but of this splendid literature written by women in Japan (nyooboo bungaku and, in modern times, joryuu bungaku). And not only the classical literature from the 10th and 11th centuries, but previous and subsequent times without forgetting the brave literature of Modernity or the burning literature of Contemporaneity.

Students will receive tools so that at the end of the course they know the sociocultural context of the different periods of Japan that favoured the flowering of women's literature, such as the stylistic and thematic qualities that have turned it into one of the great literary expressions of universal culture.

The teacher will explain the sociocultural conditions of women's literature and will introduce the keys that will make the valuation and enjoyment easier of recommended readings. Every participant must read two books (one in the case of Genji) that will be commented in class.
