Asia Geek: "Think geek, think big!"

This new session of Asia Geek offers the story in first person of a young Dídak Lee, son of Chinese immigrants, who thanks to his attraction for technology and his enterprising spirit, achieves his dream of becoming part of Barça.

The attraction for cyberculture is not something easy to explain; but in the society of information, a great part of digital life comes from young people who share this passion for their profession. Maybe for this reason the geek –or people who are fascinated by technology- devote their hours to a hobby that turns into their work most times.

The case of Dídac Lee is the example of the Californian enterprising model of Silicon Valley is possible in our country. He left his studies aside at the age of 21 and with only 18.000 Euros he funded the Holding Inspirit and the group TradeINN. Inspirit is made up of eight technologically based companies with more than 250 workers in Girona, Barcelona, Madrid, Buenos Aires and Silicon Valley.

As well as his business activity, he devotes part of his time to social work, spreading the values of entrepreneurship through interviews. He is columnist in the economic section of El Periódico and in Econòmic (Avui), teacher of MBA at the University of Girona, the University of Barcelona and the Technical University of Madrid, and is one of the youngest managers of the Fútbol Club Barcelona.

He has been named “The Best Technological Enterpriser” by the University of Cambridge (2005) and has received, among others, the “Award to the Best Overseas Enterpriser” of the Government of Taiwan and the “Award to the Best Young Creative Enterpriser of Catalonia 2007”. In 2010 he was chosed by IESE as one of the 20 most influential businessmen under 40.
