Asian communities outside Asia are becoming larger and more numerous. These communities, made up of people who migrated, but also their children who were already born in the West, have a certain artistic and cultural production, and are gaining relevance.

This course-workshop, whose operation is similar to that of a reading club, focuses on cultural production in the field of literature. What is meant by Asian-descendant literature? Is it the same as diaspora literature? Some keys will be provided to understand this type of literature, what role they play in disseminating Asian culture and we will learn about some works and authors that are in the media focus, both of the Asian collective in the United States, larger and with greater reach, like the one that is being born in Spain.

Instead of dividing the sessions by country, a division by narrative genre has been established. Thus, in each one we will see different formats, both fiction and non-fiction.

The first part of the sessions will be dedicated to establishing a brief social and cultural context of the authors, as well as other proposals that make known the great variety of authors translated into Spanish, while in the second part we will share the readings and share our impressions.

Throughout the sessions, different fragments of the works of the aforementioned authors will be provided through the course's virtual community. It is necessary to read them before the session to be able to discuss them that day in class.
