The Asian and Spanish Women’s Network is a project promoted by the Spanish Agency for International Cooperation for Development (AECID) together with Casa Asia in order to create a space for communication and dialogue among women of Asian countries and Spain that will promote mutual understanding and facilitate the establishment of partnerships and cooperation.
The role of women in developing Asian countries is increasingly relevant. Their voice must be heard to better understand the reality of the continent. Spaces for dialogue must appear to show the plural reality of Asian women who reflect on future scenarios where their rights to access all opportunities will are guaranteed.
Since February 1, 2011, the Network has its offices in Casa Asia in Barcelona. It has the mission to promote and consolidate the network to exchange experiences, ideas and best practices on issues that shape the interests of women from Asia and Spain.
The Asian and Spanish Women's Network has become a permanent forum to listen to first hand realities of Asian women and a database of specialists available to international public institutions, agencies, associations and foundations, in order to collaborate in the design and implementation of public policies.
The Network organizes a yearly meeting of Asian and Spanish Women which has become a reference forum about issues related to women's role as an engine of change in Asian societies.
The Asian and Spanish Women's Network also wishes to provide visibility to the rich and vibrant world of Art, Literature, Business and Academy led by women in Asian countries.
