Lending

Document lending is free, there is no membership card and it works with your ID or Passport.

All the material can be lent, except reference works, reserved documents, magazines and books that we consider should have the identification lending excluded.

The lending service is unipersonal, material cannot be lent under another user's name. The material can be returned by any other person.

Minors have to sign up with an adult who will be responsible for their lendings.

The loss or deterioration of documents must be reestablished with the acquisition of a new copy of the same document or paying the price of the copy. Until this happens, the users lending service will be blocked.

Collective Lending

Collective Lending is addressed to educational centres and cultural institutions that would like to use the available collection at the Casa Asia Media Library with the purpose to spread the culture of Asia and the Pacific and serve as a support for teaching and investigation.

Casa Asia Media Library places at the disposal of these centres its collection that includes books, music, films and documentaries, except the material excluded from lending.

In order to use this service it is necessary to fill an application with the information of the centre, its person in charge, as well as authorized people to take the material. This application can be sent by e-mail or handed in personally at Casa Asia Media Library.

InterAsia Borrow

Casa Asia Media Library offers its users the opportunity to request documents that are in a location other than the usual (Barcelona or Madrid), with the exception of the specimens excluded from loan and those who are already at the bottom of Media Library where you made the loan request.

InterAsia Loan applicants should be addressed to counter the media library and make the request. The service costs 1 euro per document, which will be paid at the time of making the request of the specimen. Within a maximum of 15 days will be advised to move to withdraw. If in the course of a week, not the loan has been taken InterAsia, the Mediatheque will not return the amount previously paid and the user will be excluded from this service for future requests.

Inter Librarian Lending

Can't find what you're looking for? We will order it for you in another library

Casa Asia Media Library offers its users the possibility to ask other libraries for documents not in its collection, whose theme is specialized in the Asia-Pacific region, with the exception of the copies excluded from loan.

In order to request an inter-library lending, you must go to the reception desk of the Media Library and order the material. The fees are those established according to the rules of REBIUN (Network of University Libraries):

Every original lent copy: 8,00 €
Scanned (PDF) or photocopied pages: 5 € per copy (article, chapter, etc.) of up to 40 pages (1 € per block of 10 additional copies)*

*Only the reproduction of up to 20% of each monograph is allowed. In the case of articles or periodical publications, this limit could be higher, only if the copied material is part of the same article.

The time of delivery of the requested material depends on the supplying centre. When the document is received, the applicant will be noticed by e-mail or telephone so they can come and collect it at the Media Library. If in the course of a week, the inter-library loan has not been collected, the Media Library will not return the fee priorly paid and the use will be excluded from this service for future requests.

The inter-librarian lending is a service addresed to other libraries, documentation centres or institutions to accede to material that is not in their libraries.

All the material can be lent, except reference works, reserved documents, magazines and books that have the identification excluded from lending.

Inter Librarian lending application

The fees of the inter librarian service according to the rules of REBIUN (Network of University Libraries) are the following:

Every original lent copy: 8,00 €
Copies*: 5 € per article up to 40 copies (1 € per block of 10 additional copies)

At the end of the year, every institution will be charged in a unique invoice, all the inter librarian lending. The time of delivery of the requested material will depend on its situation when the lending requestment is made.

The requesting library will be in charge of the repairing fees, in case of deterioration or loss of lent material, as well as the person in charge of the suitable return of the material.

Renewals

Documents can be renewed twice, but only if the material has not been reserved by anyone else. You can renew documents by going to the Media Library counter, by telephone and by Internet.

Reservations

Only documents that are on loan can be reserved. You can make reservations at the Media Library counter, by telephone and by e-mail.

Each user can have a maximum number of two reservations of each type of material. Club CASA ASIA users can have a maximum number of three reservations.

Users will be told that their reservation is available by e-mail or telephone. The reservation will be cancelled if the user does not collect the document 7 days after they have been informed. The reservation is also cancelled when the user interested in the document cannot be found.
