The School of Bamboo, the intercultural education project of Casa Asia was born in 2003-2004 with the purpose to approach the Asian continent and the region of the Pacific to the school population. Our educational proposal has the following objectives:
Our offer of activities is addressed to students of infant, primary, secondary, and special education, adult and non formal education.
The Bamboo School is member of:
In order to achieve these objectives, we work on small projects in whose framework the Bamboo School offers you a certain amount of activities that varies depending on the educational level and of the specific purposes. These projects propose transversal topics chosen according to the current curriculum of every educational level and are always multidisciplinary.
Every project begins with the collection of prior knowledge and experiences of students about the topic in order to subsequently developing it. After a short presentation of the topic, a participative dynamic is suggested (a non-competitive board game, a traditional game, work with pictures, a writing workshop, a plastic art workshop, a performance, a role game) which allows students to deepen into the topic at the same time they have fun. At the end, impressions and opinions of students are gathered, conclusions are drawn and a short assessment is carried out.
In the case of projects that require two or three sessions, it is advisable for all of them to be carried out in a maximum period of one and a half months and that one of them takes place at Casa Asia Headquarters.
The Bamboo School gives cards where the projects are presented, the subsequent work ideas and the materials needed that must be prepared by the school if the activities are carried out at the educational centre.
Projects are led by teachers, mostly Asian, that know a lot about the countries and the topics we offer. They have experience using participative teaching techniques. The teachers have professional and educational experience in different areas of artistic expression
